Isolation is the only thing we have in common?

Don’t know, kind of stuck on this assumption after “Love get out of my way” by Monarchy.

Even the video, and the cover of the album, give me this feeling of cold detachment. Is this the zeitgeist? Probably I’m coming late.

Album release is due in may 2011, but I downloaded it 2 months ago, so if you’re curious is out there. Extremely synth-POP.

Daisy Daisy – Michelle Plays Ping Pong

Video and song go hand in hand and the result is a psychedelic trip. Catchy tune from 2006.

Tristan Perich: 1-Bit Symphony

Sometimes someone come up with a brilliant idea and have the knowledge and passion to put it together, this time is Tristan Perich with his 1-Bit Symphony.

Check out the video.

Crystal Castles – Celestica

Here it is the official video for Celestica, one of the best song in the new album. Strange song and strange video for a band so dark, maybe that’s why I love it so much.

And Alice Glass is beautiful, completely in love with the idea of her. Lyrics after the jump.

The Bloody Beetroots Deathcrew77 – Sperm Donor (Live @ Stereo Bielefeld)

The song is Rifoki (Bob Rifo + Steve Aoki) – Sperm Donor

Bob Rifo seems unstoppable on his path to change Bloody Beetroots from electro house sensation into an hardcore band, and if this is what is going to be like, I can just say: go for it fast as you can Bob!

Their show is one of the sickest, funnier, energizer, most awesome act I ever partecipate and if you want to try just remember is not really safe to go in the middle of the crowd, but God it is fun!

Royksopp – Remind Me

A great video from the past, maybe 2002. I’m not a really big fan of music videos, but this is one of those beyond the simple definition of “music video”, is a 4 minutes infographic look up on a routine day for a white collar girl in London and everything she is connected with.

How To Destroy Angels – The Space In Between

How To Destroy Angels is the new project from Trent Reznor, Nine Inch Nails, and his wife Mariqueen Maandig, West Indian Girl.

This song and video are both amazing, can’t wait for the EP due to be released later this summer.

The Chemical Brothers – Swoon

New video from the forthcoming album of Chemical Brothers, Further.

Swoon is fine, not a dance boom, but the right track to play this summer at some beach bar as the sun comes down and the night begin. The video doesn’t impress at all: from the guys who brought us videos like the one of Star Guitar or Hey Boy Hey Girl… I was expecting something better.

MGMT – Congratulations

A lot of words have been said about the new album of MGMT, Congratulations, personally I like it more than Oracular Spectacular, this indie psychedelic turn they have take is without doubt more various and interesting then the pop, synthpop style they were used to. I mean, you can think whatever you want, but there is a pure inspiration in a piece like Brian Eno, or Flash Delirium, and live they sounds as amazing as on the album.

Check out the SNL live performance last week for quick a confirmation. Read more of this post

New stuff: LCD Soundsystem, Crystal Castles & Bloody Beetroots

The new, third and last album from LCD Soundsystem, This is happening, is leaked all over the web in the last 24 hour, not sure if it’s worth the buzz, but I never really be a fan of his work either.

One LP I can’t wait to download is the new one from Crystal Castles, 2nd from the band and even this self titled too… so much for creativity uh? Anyway I’m really exited about this, maybe next week they’re going to play some new tracks in their London stop at Heaven, at least I hope so, 25 frakkin £ of ticket for god’s sake, they better do their best, or I’m going on stage and kicking in her skinny ass Alice Glass.

The last EP from Bloody Beetroots is online too, Domino (Spares of Romoborama) Pt. 2, nothing to say really: is more of the same.. and thanks god! 31 seconds to Die is worth the EP in itself, maybe because there’s not much else actually.

HEALTH – We are Water

Epic/disturbed video from indie core band HEALTH. Thinking if is still shocking for the younger generation this kind of content, what’s shocking in this times?

Vimeo HD version

Chemical Brothers – Escape Velocity

While we wait for the new album Further (7 june UK) here we go with a preview of the new track Escape Velocity. It sounds awesome! Hoping for a good album as well.

Can’t wait anymore to see them live at the Roundhouse, London, 20th may!

Wrap up: Cranberries, Crookers, Pub Crawl, Easter, Burn The Negative and other things

Never spoke before about Burn The Negative, well they got out the new album In The Atmosphere for a year or more now and they are a good mix of Depeche Mode (Playing The Angel period) and Apoptygma Berzerk (Rocket Science), a good synth pop / new wave sound that stays away from the dark side of the synth and embraces some disco beats. I like them a lot!

Saw Cranberries for the first time at the Royal Albert Hall, 31 march, Sinead O’Connor has one of the most amazing voice I ever heard, probably the best female singer I saw (Karen O is there too anyway). The public was a little cold, I was expecting a more passionate fan base, and sure they deserve it.

Crookers, Annie Mac and all the other who were on stage last saturday at Koko, 3 April, got me just insane: from 11 pm to 3 am, from dubstep, drum & bass, some idm, to the unique style of Crookers in the end of the night. Maybe they weren’t in their best night (and were is Royal T? :)) ) but still is just party music, for party people on a party night, perfect mix!

Pub crawls are work of evil! Got to do one for my flatmate birthday party, and man… it was a lot of fun, for what I can remember at least! 4 different pub/bar in the center of London, 1 every hour starting from 19:30, and in the end Zoo Bar (tourist target disco club) alternative night from all the concert I have done lately.

Rapid drop in at walkabout shepard bush aussie night on easter sunday and it confirmed what I was thinking of the event from the last time I was there, if you’re not completely dumb/wasted is not funny, special point if you’re from Australia or New Zeland as the 90% of the dumb you can find there. Not really my place I think.

LCD Soundsystem – Drunk Girls

The new single with a pretty good unofficial(?) video. Just waiting for the new album to come out, it won’t be long…

UPDATE: the unofficial video is down :( official one on then :P by Spike Jonze. Kind of making the point about how crazy people behave when drunk, and society, and generation, and whatever. Nice.

The day after: Together Week One @ The Coronet

As soon as I get in things started going the wrong way, the time table was saying Crystal Fighters (live) 11:00 – 11:30! Too soon! For God’s sake I’m just arrived!

They started more like 11:20, but still the place was desert and what a shame because they were the best on stage in the night! Some of the beat they used were more like hardcore rave music (!!) then common electro stuff, so powerful, so talented, really looking forward for the next gig they’re doing live in London. Just great, and too short!

Then the rest of the night musically was kind of a delusion, I was expecting so much more from Mylo, instead of some fantasy behind the deck, he got death boring for an hour and a half just for drop at the end of the set Drop The Pressure, anyone went crazy obviously, but still.. really? This is all you got? I know that’s not true, because the album production was way superior, but anyway we get to listen to a boring set.

I hadn’t great expectation on Zombie Nation (live) but he clearly knows his way around the controller and the set was good.

Thank God I was with party people so the night in itself was still great.

As for the organization, Together got potential and tomorrow with Bloody Beetroots (live!!!) & Does It Offend You Yeah? (live) (Hervé seems kind of good on his myspace) sure is going to be one hell of a night, but still, man.. they better put their shit together quickly and star doing better time table.

Where tha frak is this coming from?

I’m talking about the new video from Lady Gaga, Telephone, ft. Beyoncè 9 min version (never get what’s good in Beyoncè beside herself, good call Jay-Z btw).
What struck me most:
- is a giant product placement production, but really massive this time, like you can’t get away from at least 1 brand for more than 10 seconds.
- witch style is this? Where this culture coming from? I’m not talking about music side (indeed one of the worst producion on Gaga for what I know about her, little then) but visually is a complete stand-by-itself world, colorful, ready-to-eat manifesto of “we come from America an still bring you POP culture”, but then again, where this coming from? Is this a mile stone for the current teenage generation drinking deeply from the fountain of mainstream music?
- is still (ever been?) putting sexy, almost naked, girls a femminist statement? Someone still buy this crap? Are teenager girls buying it?

Coachella 2010 Lineup

Why Contra by Vampire Weekend sucks, a lot.

Mini wiki: Contra è l’ultimo album dei Vampire Weekend, indie band from NY.

Read more of this post

In rigoroso ordine alfabetico il resto della top 10:

Calvin Harris – Ready For The Weekend (dance, electronic, electro)
